A MACS facelift, also known as our mini facelift, is a great procedure that corrects mildly loose skin on the neck and mild to moderate laxity in the jowls. This type of facelift is less invasive than a traditional facelift but still offers patients superior results. Here are the top benefits of a MACS facelift.
In-Office Procedure
Unlike our traditional facelift option, a MACSlift is performed in our office under local anesthesia. With an in-office MACSlift, Valium is given to help the patient relax while they are fully awake during the entire procedure.
Beautiful, Natural, Long Lasting Results
During a MACSlift procedure, the SMAS (fibrous layer that sags with aging) is gathered upward and secured in place with sutures that firmly attach to the strong tissue at the base of the temple. When the SMAS is addressed, the neck is minimally tightened and the cheeks are elevated to a more youthful position. Any excess skin is then trimmed at the incision line and carefully closed with fine sutures. MACSlifts are natural and long lasting because our surgeons lift and reattach the SMAS layer.
Less Downtime
Recovery after a MACSlift is typically easier on patients and most patients do not feel the need to take the prescribed pain medication after the first 24 hours. It is very common for the patient to experience some numbness, which will resolve on its own within 2- 12 weeks.
Bruising and swelling are common after any surgical procedure but some patients may bruise more than others. Bruising typically begins to resolve as early as one week but may take 2-3 weeks to fully resolve.
Post operative instructions include getting plenty of rest, avoiding strenuous activity, alcohol and sun exposure. Most patients are able to return to work within 1 week. Keep in mind, bruising and swelling is still present which is why some patients take 2-3 weeks off after surgery.
When comparing our traditional facelift to our MACSlift, the MACSlift advantages include smaller incisions, meaning smaller scars, less bruising, quicker recovery, no general anesthesia and lower financial cost.
Our traditional facelift is better for certain patients as it’s a more comprehensive procedure. When comparing the two procedures, one is not better than the other, they each provide incredible results for the right candidates.
