The Best Botox Alternatives

Are you skeptical of trying Botox or afraid of looking “frozen”? Here at Utah Facial Plastics we offer a number of Botox alternatives for you to consider. However, none of these Botox alternatives have the same effects or results Botox has to offer. Botox treatments are only growing in popularity because of its ability to smooth and prevent wrinkles, along with how safe it actually is.

Is Botox Dangerous? Let’s Walk Through This Together

Botox is the most popular neurotoxin on the market and the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment, with millions of Botox treatments performed a year. There are other neurotoxins available like Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau which all offer similar effects as Botox. Botox is just far more well-known and more popular than its competitors. Botox is an injectable and when it is injected into the muscle, being treated, it depletes the neurotransmitter. This means it blocks the signal that causes the muscle to move. When Botox blocks the nerve signals, it temporarily prevents that muscle from moving which causes the skin to soften.

The most common fears when it comes to Botox is a reaction or looking too fake or frozen. These fears are understandable, but also very rare. There are many people walking around with great Botox treatments you wouldn’t even notice. This is why it is important to see a reputable and experienced injector to ensure that you are getting a great and safe injectable treatment.

Smooth and Prevent Wrinkles with Botox

Once Botox is injected into the area being treated, it begins blocking nerves so the muscle cannot contract and form wrinkles in the skin. The underlying facial muscles relax, and the skin begins to smooth out. Botox does not work immediately. Full effects take approximately 7-10 days. Botox is a temporary treatment, and the treated muscles regain full function within 3 to 6 months. However, with consistent Botox treatments, many individuals notice wrinkles soften and eventually disappear altogether.

Botox Can Treat:

  • Glabella (between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Bunny lines (sides of the nose)
  • Masseter (slims jaw and prevents clenching)

Benefits of Botox:

  • Minimal discomfort
  • No downtime
  • Safe and effective

Still Looking for a Botox Alternative?

Botox is a one-of-a-kind anti-aging treatment and there isn’t a treatment to compare it to. If you are someone who has a needle phobia or are just hesitant to try Botox, we do offer alternative treatments that can improve the appearance of your fine lines and wrinkles and slow down signs of aging.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing treatments are the next best thing, especially if you are wanting to target fine lines and wrinkles. Laser skin resurfacing treatments have the ability to treat sun damage, visible signs of aging, poor texture, fine lines and uneven, and dull skin. We offer a variety of laser skin resurfacing treatments such as Halo Hybrid fractional laser, and BBL (broad band light). There are many added benefits, however these treatments can be more invasive than Botox or require a series of treatments before results are fully apparent.

Our newest laser is the Moxi Laser by Sciton, which is a top-of-the-line treatment that is ideal for those who are wanting to reverse some early signs of aging. Moxi is less aggressive than a CO2 or Halo, yet effective enough to tackle sun damage and reverse early aging. Each Moxi treatment is tailored to each individual and the strength can be adjusted to treat your unique skin concerns. Moxi can be paired with BBL to enhance results and can be done as a series.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are tried-and-true and effectively remove damaged layers of skin. Chemical peels are a skincare treatment that can be adjusted to each individual, meaning the depth of penetration can be adjusted depending on how much damage could be removed. Also, skin tone and type is a factor on what peels are safe to use. Overall skin improvement is noticeable after each treatment, but chemical peels also require a series of treatments to benefit from the full results. Chemical peels can treat sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scar and hyperpigmentation.

Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen induction therapy or more commonly referred to as microneedling is another effective treatment that softens fine lines and wrinkles while also addressing other skin concerns. Microneedling improves the appearance of fine lines, scars, skin texture, tone and color. During treatment, small micro-injuries occur which stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, producing smoother, clearer skin. Microneedling does require more than one treatment for the best results and recovery is typically 24 hours.
