Preventative skin treatments have been on the rise for a few years now and are becoming more popular. Over the past several years we have noticed that many individuals of all ages, but especially millennials, are now more aware of preventative skin care treatments. They are doing everything that they can now to prevent premature aging, sun damage, and maintaining a youthful appearance.
UFP Aesthetics educates our patient on how to be more proactive about skin health. Protecting and taking diligent care of the skin at an early age will help maintain healthy, youthful looking skin and can even stave off invasive intervention later in life.
High Quality Skin Care
Start being proactive by investing in the switch to high quality skin care. Medical grade skin care along with a consistent routine is one of the easiest ways to start preventing premature skin aging. A new skincare regimen can sometimes feel overwhelming, but once you know what products you need and what they are meant to do, you will see a change in your skin. If you are someone who wants to start off with a new minimal routine, we can help by picking a few key products to get you going in the right direction. Products can easily be added as you become more comfortable with the routine. The important thing to remember is consistency is key. Daily ingredients are like “fertilizer” to your skin cells and keep them functioning properly.
At both our Draper and Layton locations we have several knowledgeable skin care specialists who can examine the skin and recommend appropriate skin care options and products. Skin care is unique to everyone, let us help you get started with the best products.
Sun Protection and Sun Damage Prevention
Sunscreen is commonly missed however it is one of the most important, even in the fall and winter. Sun damage is the number one factor when it comes to skin aging. Whether it is a tanning bed or being unprotected from the sun, both can increase the risk of skin cancer and skin aging. With unprotected sun exposure, you are being exposed to UVA (aging) rays that cause sunspots and even fine lines and wrinkles. Sunscreen is known to help prevent photo damage, aging, and wrinkles. Damage done by the sun takes years of consistent skin care along with chemical peels and/or laser treatments to reverse. This is one step you are not going to want to miss, especially if you are being proactive about premature aging. Everyone should be on a good skin care routine, no matter what gender or age you are.
Botox and Dermal Fillers
Injectables like Botox and fillers are both well-known wrinkle treatments, but for different concerns. Botox is ideal for those who want to keep fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), forehead, and between the brows at bay. Wrinkles are extremely common in these areas because of facial expressions we make every single day. The contracting or movement in these areas over time lead to fine lines and eventually deep wrinkles. Botox is injected into these muscles which in return prevents these muscles from contracting. With consistent Botox treatments, you will notice these lines soften or often disappear altogether.
Filler works very differently than Botox as it restores volume, structures, and lifts in the areas of the face that are being treated. Over time with age, it is common to experience volume loss in areas such as the mid-face, chin, under-eyes, cheeks, temples, and even the lips. Both Botox and filler are minimally invasive and effective.
Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers are generally very safe and have been around for many years. When done by an experienced injector and safe facility, these treatments can sustain a youthful appearance for many years and don’t require any downtime.
Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation Treatments
Skin rejuvenation treatments such as chemical peels, laser treatments like BBL (Broad Band Light Therapy), and collagen induction therapy are great preventative skin treatments but they are also a great form of maintenance. Non-surgical skin rejuvenation offers individuals a variety of options that can be tailored to unique needs while still providing noticeable results. We have also noticed that patients are willing to have slightly more downtime for more considerable and long-term results.
Skin concerns that can be addressed with non-surgical skin rejuvenation:
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Fine lines
- Rosacea
- Redness
- Birthmarks
- Freckles
- Acne and acne scarring
- Skin texture
- Broken capillaries
While genetics and lifestyle can play a role in how we age, it is important to practice good skin care habits at home as well as receiving treatments regularly or occasionally to maintain.
