NeoGraft Hair Restoration FAQ’s

What Is NeoGraft?

NeoGraft is the first automated hair transplant device that facilitates the harvesting of follicles during follicular unit extraction (FUE). The follicular units are then grafted to thinning areas of the scalp. The NeoGraft process dramatically improves the accuracy and speed over previously used FUE methods.

What is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)?

Follicular Unit Extraction is an advanced, minimally invasive hair transplant method where each follicular unit is extracted one at a time from a dense area of the back of the head. FUE involves no sutures and leaves no linear scar.

What Are The Benefits of FUE over FUT or “Strip-Method”?

The strip-method involves the excision of a strip of hair from the back of the head in which follicular units can then be extracted from. The incision is closed with sutures and can take up to six weeks to heal completely. With FUE, each unit is extracted one at a time, therefore there is not need for a linear scar on the back of the head. The patient can typically return to work within one to two days and once completely healed, can wear their hair short as there is no scar to camouflage. Without stitches, downtime is shorter and there are fewer restrictions following surgery.

What Are The Benefits of NeoGraft Over Other FUE Techniques?

The NeoGraft device suctions follicular units versus manually excising or punching out grafts as with other FUE techniques. By suctioning them, there is less risk of damaging the follicular unit at it’s core. The harvesting process is much more accurate and also takes less time than manually extracting them one by one.

Who Is A Good Candidate for FUE Using NeoGraft?

Good candidates for NeoGraft are patients who like the option of wearing their hair short and those who want minimal downtime and less restrictions following surgery. Patients who are very athletic or have tighter scalps are also good candidates. FUE can be used for ‘scar camouflage’ procedures for patients who have had prior “strip” procedures, as well as for body hair transplants.

Are the Results The Same with NeoGraft and the “Strip-Method”?

Successful hair restoration comes from the skill of the surgeon. When implanted with care and precision, healthy grafts will result in fuller, thicker hair. It’s important that the surgeon has an artistic eye and understands how to create a natural looking hair line. The difference between the two methods is only in how the grafts are extracted, not in the actual transplantation process, which is the same with either technique.

Is NeoGraft Suitable for Both Men and Women?

Yes. Because FUE with NeoGraft is a minimally-invasive procedure, it’s a viable option for both men and women looking to restore their own living and growing hair with transplantation.

Do I Have To Buzz My Head to Have NeoGraft Performed?

No, if your hair is long enough, a small area can be shaved to extract grafts from and covered by your other existing hair.
