Non-surgical rhinoplasty treatments increased dramatically in popularity last year as more and more patients are looking for subtle changes to their nose without the downtime. RealSelf.com reported a 35% increase in non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures just last year. So is a non-surgical rhinoplasty permanent?
Hyaluronic Acid Filler for a non-surgical rhinoplasty
The short answer is no. But, don’t be discouraged! There are actually really frightening reasons semi-permanent or permanent fillers are risky. You are injecting product into your face and what if you don’t like it? With hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm Ultra Plus or Voluma, which our injectors often use for a non-surgical rhinoplasty, it is possible to dissolve it all within a few days by injecting hyaluronidase into that area. Simple, safe, and results can be reversed at any time.
How long does a non-surgical rhinoplasty last?
This typically depends on the situation and type of filler used. With Juvederm Ultra Plus, the standard amount of time it lasts in the face is around 9 months. But most patients don’t use the full syringe at their initial treatment and can come back for more for up to one year, which is the amount of time we bank your filler in our office. We don’t charge extra to come back for more once you have paid for the syringe. Other fillers may be used, such as Voluma, which can last up to two years for certain patients. It’s best to come in for a consultation to see what injectable is right for you, if any!
Needle versus scalpel
While the non-surgical option sounds so much easier, sometimes surgery really is the way to go. When it comes to fillers, we are adding volume to the nose, not taking away or making it smaller. Adding filler to the bridge or tip of the nose can often times make the nose appear smaller but the actual size can only be taken down with the scalpel. Sorry folks! So again, it’s best to come in for an assessment by one of our providers who will discuss your goals, and together you can come up with the best plan. Many patients of ours will start with a non-surgical rhinoplasty for awhile, see how they like it, and then opt for rhinoplasty surgery down the road when they are ready or have saved up the funds.
