How Does A Non-Surgical Facelift Work?

To be clear, a non-surgical facelift does not replace a surgical facelift and certainly does not provide the same results. But for the right patient, major facial rejuvenation can be achieved in one quick visit with little no downtime. That is the beauty of non-surgical injectables and procedures and why they have become increasingly popular over the years.

A non-surgical facelift has also been termed a Liquid Facelift or Lunch Time Facelift. Many facilities around the world have trademarked other names to describe non-surgical facial rejuvenation and are mainly used for marketing purposes.

Non-surgical facial rejuvenation, more accurately termed, is performed by using a combination of injectables and possibly some laser treatments or chemical peels to help a patient look younger and more refreshed. Voluma is a common dermal filler that Dr. Thompson uses for  non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Voluma is the newest of dermal fillers and is specifically designed to restore volume in the mid-face. It’s a great product as it can last up to 2 years after one treatment. Juvederm, Radiesse, or Artefill are often used in the lines around the mouth (parentheses) and fillers such as Restylane or Belotero are great for under-eye hollowing. To restore volume in the lips or to make them more plump, Dr. Thompson typically prefers the smoothness of Juvederm.

Another important part of the non-surgical facelift combo is Botox®. Botox is still the best product for patients seeking smoothness in the forehead, between the brows, and/or around the eyes (crow’s feet).

Patients typically come in for a complimentary consultation to determine whether or not they are a good candidate for a non-surgical facelift and receive recommendations by Dr. Thompson depending on their needs and concerns. If the patient decides to proceed the procedure can be done at the same time as it typically only takes approximately 20 minutes. Or treatment can be done at a later scheduled appointment. Numbing cream is used in most situations to help ease any discomfort associated with injections.

If fine lines and/or hyperpigmentation are also of concern, Dr. Thompson may recommend a CO2 Fractional Laser treatment, chemical peels, or skincare regimen depending on the severity of the issue(s). A full individualized approach is best when it comes to non-surgical facial rejuvenation and results are dramatic.

For patients seeking lifting or tightening of the lower face and neck, Dr. Thompson will likely recommend his in-office MACS Facelift or full Facelift depending on the situation. These procedures are best for tightening the skin and provide a much longer lasting dramatic results than many popular other non-surgical procedures such as Ultherapy and Pelleve. When used with dermal fillers or fat injections for volume restoration, results are astounding.
